Alen Mandel, Vice President

After completing his education at Brooklyn College, Alen worked as a systems analyst for over ten years at Olympia and York. During that time, heeding the call of his first love, medicine, Alen joined Hatzolah, the highly regarded volunteer ambulance corps. Recognizing the need for volunteer paramedics in the Jewish community, Alen completed a paramedic training course, graduating as valedictorian of his class and  becoming Hatzolah’s  first  paramedic .
A member of Hatzolah for over 25 years, Alen was instrumental in introducing advanced life support to the organization and is a highly sought after NYS Department of Health Certified Instructor Coordinator,  training hundreds of students over the years.
Prior to joining Revival, Alen was Vice-President of the largest ambulance company on the east coast. While working there, he gained a wealth of understanding of the health care industry. Turning his avocation into a vocation was natural for Alen who from his early college days, has always wanted to help people.  In fact, he says, “Working as a paramedic gave me a unique perspective that I feel  has enriched my work at Revival. It has made me understand how important it is for someone facing a medical crisis to find the help they need quickly. And,” he adds, “to deliver that help with compassion and sensitivity.”
Alen joined Revival two years ago as Vice-President for  Corporate Compliance and Customer Relations. Through his work with Hatzolah, he has become a familiar and beloved figure in the Jewish community and in the health care industry. He is ideally suited to the role of working with patients and their families to ensure the delivery of optimal care. “The vulnerability that people feel when faced with injury or illness is overwhelming,” he says. “They need reassurance and they need to know that their home care agency will be able to help in a timely and professional way. It’s an integral part of what I see as my mission in life, to see to it that these needs are met.”
Alen is married and the father of a “nice, big family”.  “We serve more people from the community than any other agency,” he explains. “That’s why it’s natural for us to see home care from the patient’s perspective.  After all, our patients are our neighbors, our friends, our family.”
